Profile: Cathie Winn, Mobile Cat Groomer

Cathie describes cat grooming as an extreme sport.

And, she's not wrong. We saw it for ourselves.

Cathie Winn, located in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, has started working for herself as a mobile cat groomer after 20 years of being a veterinary nurse. She also grooms the odd rabbit, just FYI.

In 2019, Cathie took a punt and posted her cat grooming and feline behaviour services on AirTasker as a way to make a bit of cash on the side. She got so much interest and return customers that she set up the business officially in early 2020: "After Melbourne came out of lockdown, there was a massive increase in people wanting pets groomed."

Cathie took the jump, and is now doing mobile cat grooming full time. *Claps!*

"It seems I’ve fallen on my feet.

I have a niche skill, my clients like my method, and I love what I’m doing. It has all happened naturally, going from strength to strength. I’m networking, always learning and have various things in the works, and many more ideas in my head.

Helping the cats feel better, be more comfortable and educating owners makes my day.

I always come home smiling."

Cathie is currently setting up as sole trader, and is looking forward to an easy-to-use app designed for small businesses that is straightforward and will simplify the accounting side of business.

We think small business owners are superheroes.
